Former Swaffham town crier Edwin Godden charged with numerous child sex offences dating back to 2010

A former town crier has been charged with various child sex offences dating back more than a decade.
Edwin Godden, 53, of Queen Street in Swaffham, has been charged with four counts of penetrative sexual activity with a child.
He is also accused of one count of rape, with all the alleged offences dating back to 2010.
Godden appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, May 14, and was bailed to return to Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday, June 11.
He is a former town crier in Swaffham, as well as a prominent church figure. However, he no longer holds a church trusteeship.
