Former Clenchwarton villager made indecent images of children
A 62-year-old man has been convicted of making more than 300 indecent images of children in West Norfolk.
Police were tipped off after Robin Chamberlain uploaded images to the social networking site Tumblr, magistrates in King’s Lynn heard on Thursday.
Prosecutor Lily Orr told the court that there were 151 category A images (the most serious), 51 category B and 100 category C.
They were of male and female children aged between five and ten years old.
Chamberlain, formerly of Clenchwarton, pleaded guilty to making the images between March 5, 2018 and January 9, 2020.
He also admitted having 60 prohibited images of children on January 8, 2020.
Miss Orr said Chamberlain, who had no previous convictions, made “full and frank admissions” to the offences in police interview.
She asked the bench to commit the case to crown court for sentencing due to the high volume of images, the ages of the victims and the “prolonged period” of offending.
Solicitor Claire Edgeler supported the request, adding: “As a result of his arrest, his marriage of 39 years broke down.”
She said he had taken redundancy at about the same time and was now living in Ely, after being shunned by his wife and family.
The case was committed to Norwich Crown Court for sentencing on a date to be fixed.
A pre-sentence report was ordered and Chamberlain, who was granted unconditional bail, was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register within three days of the hearing.
