Four fire crews have been called to tackle a blaze at a commercial unit close to Lynn’s town centre this afternoon.

A number of people were evacuated from the site on Austin Fields, where the blaze was reported to have broken out shortly after 3pm, but no injuries were reported.

Crews from both Lynn’s fire stations were joined by units from Sandringham and Massingham to tackle the flames.

Elsewhere, a horse has had to be rescued after becoming trapped in a ditch.

Crews were sent to the incident in Wormegay at 3.06pm, while a vet was also called to sedate the animal.

Lynn-based firefighters used specialist rescue equipment to free the horse, which was released into the care of its owner.

A busy Christmas Eve afternoon for the service also saw crews sent to tackle a kitchen blaze at a house on Wildfields Road, Clenchwarton shortly before 4.40pm.

Emergency crews were also called to collisions on Queen Elizabeth Way, Lynn, and Brandon Road, Swaffham.
