Action for Blind People is running a free two-day course in Hunstanton for visually-impaired residents of the area called Living with Sight Loss.
The Finding your Feet programme is designed especially to give practical and emotional support to people who have recently been diagnosed with sight loss, as well as their friends and family.
Bernie Reddington, Living with Sight Loss co-ordinator, said: “The course is held over two days and doesn’t include any reading, writing or tests, as everything is achieved through discussion and hands on demonstration.
“ People have gained massively from talking to other people in a similar situation and finding out about services available to support them locally and nationally, as well as picking up useful tips and advice for doing tasks safely around the house and getting out and about.”
Action for Blind People, which is part of the Royal National Institute for Blind People, has been given funding from the West Norfolk CCG health and wellbeing fund.
It will be held at the Town Hall on The Green in Hunstanton, on April 20-21, starting at 9.30am. It will finish no later than 3.30pm both days
Topics include getting out and about, practical skills for everyday life, meeting new people, using technology and emotional wellbeing.
