In the past few years, the Woodlakes site at Stowbridge has certainly built up.

First, Jack’s at Woodlakes arrived. It has some delicious options and is a great spot to meet up with friends or family.

Then, Thai Restaurant Liv Pan Asia opened, which offers some of the best Asian food in West Norfolk, in my opinion.

Now, Woodland Kitchen and Bar has opened on the same site, offering Mediterranean-style food.

I was excited to pay a visit sometime, and took the opportunity of meeting my friend Liv there for a Sunday lunch and a much needed catch-up.

We went on a sunny, but slightly breezy day, so we opted to sit inside.

Woodland Kitchen and Bar is located in a very picturesque area, with a stunning view of the lake. It has both indoor and outdoor seating available.

We were greeted by two very friendly members of staff, who made our visit comfortable and were welcoming throughout.

I was pleased when we were seated at a table - which had super comfortable chairs - that was overlooking the lake.

To drink, I had an orange juice and lemonade (£2.95), and Liv went for a Diet Coke (£2.95), they arrived pretty promptly.

Although we didn’t go for the most exciting beverage options, I did see that there were plenty of alcoholic and soft drink items on the menu.

We both fancied a starter before delving into a Sunday Roast.

I went for the Bruschetta (£6.95), which was tangy, fresh and warm. It was absolutely delicious.

Liv opted for the creamy mushrooms (also £6.95), which came in a gooey cheese sauce along with some bread to mop up with.

She really enjoyed this and said the dish lived up to its “creamy” discription, and there was certainly many “cheese-pull” moments.

We both fancied a roast, and there were many meat options to choose from.

However, I went for the vegetarian roast (£15.95), which included falafel, houmous, halloumi, a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and plenty of veg.

Although I’ve never had falafel, or halloumi, with a roast, it was delicious. I wouldn’t have halloumi with it again, but it was still great.

The roast potatoes were perfect, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

Liv agreed with my opinion on the potatoes. She went for the corn-fed chicken roast (£16.95), which came with a yorkshire pudding, veg, and of course, the roasties.

She said her chicken was fresh and succulent, and came with a nice, thick gravy.

We browsed the good list of dessert options, but decided we were too full to manage three courses.

Our total came to £52.70, which isn’t bad at all for two starters, two roasts and drinks.

The portion sizes were very generous, I found I didn’t fancy an evening meal that night because I was still full from all the delicious food we had at Woodland Kitchen and Bar!

We both said we would be making a return to the restaurant and were eager to try more of its tasty options.
