A childhood friendship is set to bring one of Britain’s most recognisable comedy actors to Swaffham.
Jeffrey Holland made his name in shows including Hi-de-Hi and You Rang M’Lord during an acting career spanning six decades.
And he is now set to bring his latest production, a one-man show paying homage to the careers of Laurel and Hardy, to the Sacred Heart School’s Barn Theatre, for a special charity performance later this month.
The show is being staged by the Swaffham Lions Club in aid of the East Anglian Children’s Hospices (EACH) Nook Appeal.
Club spokesman Dennis Tallon said: “One of our members, Mike Stenning, was at school with Jeffrey Holland and they’ve been mates ever since. He’s doing it as a favour to us. He’s not charging us.”
Mr Holland is currently touring the country with his show, And This Is My Friend Mr Laurel, which he will perform on bank holiday Monday, August 29
Tickets for the show, which will start at 7.30pm with pre-performance drinks available from 7pm, cost £12.50 each. The performance will be followed by a question and answer session.
They can be obtained from Lions club members, or by contacting Mr Tallon on 07810 773601.
