Rossiters Garage in Dersingham announces closure after 40 years as owner retires

A West Norfolk garage which has been selling vehicles to customers for more than 40 years has announced its closure as the owner retires.

Rossiters Garage will shut its doors on April 30 as owner Chris Rossiter has decided to call time on his career of selling cars.

Rossiters started operations in 1984 in Nursery Lane in North Wootton. In 1990, the company acquired a showroom premises in Dersingham.

The team took on the UK distributorship for the BMW tuning company AC Schnitzer.

Later on, David Roythorne, who had been with Chris since the beginning, took over the Wootton garage.

Chris said: “Having started in 1984, after 40 years, I’m ready to retire and focus on many other ambitions in my life.

“Over the decades, through both car sales and our AC Schnitzer programme, we’ve made many friends and had wonderfully loyal customers. That’s what I’ll miss more than anything.

“I’ve also been blessed with fantastic staff over the years, most of whom stayed for long spells. Richard Asker has been with me for nearly 25 years.

“I always aimed to present a relaxed, no pressure, atmosphere. I like to think that both customers and staff were able to feel rather homely and comfortable here.”
