The Gaywood branch of the Royal British Legion women’s section held a special lunch at Gaywood Church Rooms to commemorate their 70th anniversary on Monday.

Around 28 guests gathered to enjoy a roast pork lunch, prepared by Van Pelts Butchers, before the cutting of a special birthday cake by presisent Eileen Smales.

Viv Storrs, secretary and treasurer at the Gaywood section, said: “The lunch went very well and everyone really enjoyed it. We only had one course because of the cake afterwards.”

The group, who meet fortnightly on a Monday afternoon between 2 and 4pm, are always looking for new members.

Anyone interested should contact Mrs Storr on 01553 672075.
