GCSE results day 2022: Wisbech Grammar School describes results as 'remarkable'
After the excellent A-Level results last week, it was the turn of Wisbech Grammar School GCSE pupils to celebrate success this morning with more outstanding results.
Headmaster Designate Barney Rimmer was delighted and said "Considering the disruption to studies this cohort of pupils has had to endure throughout their GCSE’s, this set of results is truly remarkable.
"It is even more so when we look back to 2019 and the last time public exams were sat and the increase in top grades we have seen."
Some of the students with outstanding results include Alexa Conroy with seven grade 9s, Amelia Goode with six 9s, James Hall with six 9s, Holly Lawrence with five 9s, Lucy Reed with five 9s and Miles Whittaker with five 9s.
Barney Rimmer added: "At WGS we often talk about the unique community spirit we foster, and this has shone through. Teachers and parents have provided incredible support throughout, especially with lockdowns occurring at some of the most critical phases of their learning.
"There are some notable achievements, which we are delighted to share, but this is just a snapshot of the remarkable effort and resilience demonstrated by our 2022 cohort.
"All WGS pupils have achieved what they needed to move onto the next stage of their education with full confidence and we look forward to continuing to see them flourish."
