Girl Guiding units from Downham Market and Watlington and Runcton Holme come together to celebrate Coronation
A number of guiding units in West Norfolk came together to celebrate the King’s Coronation in creative ways.
Held at the Methodist Church in Downham, over 80 girls aged from five to 16 from Watlington and Runcton Holme and Downham units attended on Sunday, May 7.
The event was free to attend and was organised by group leaders so children could celebrate the day with their girl guiding friends.
Celebrations included singing traditional campfire songs, making Coronation wands, playing pass the parcel and having afternoon tea while watching the Coronation.
Rainbows and Brownies got to take home a commemorative medal and Guides and Rangers received Coronation pin badges.
Rainbows and Brownies planted King Charles III's favourite flower, a delphinium, which girls took home to give to a friend or family member.
District commissioner Emma Smith said: “We had such an amazing afternoon celebrating with our members.
“Our young people have had a hard time over the last couple of years, and to be able to celebrate the Coronation together was really special and I hope they will remember it for years to come.”
