Hunstanton’s Smithdon High School celebrates end of year with glittering prom at King’s Lynn’s Knights Hill Hotel

A colourful array of suits, ball gowns and cocktail dresses were on show when the class of 2024 at a Hunstanton school celebrated their graduation.

Smithdon High School, which is part of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, marked the end of exams with an all-out prom, attended by 84 students.

The Year 11 students arrived in style at Knight’s Hill Hotel in Lynn last Thursday, where families and well-wishers had gathered to greet them.

Vehicles delivering the partygoers included sports cars and classic motors, as well as motorbikes, two limousines, a police car and even a double-decker bus.

The group were joined by many of their teachers at the event, where the classic gold-and-black themed decor had been chosen by the Year 11 student leadership team.

Tables were decorated with black and gold balloons, while refreshments on offer included a buffet barbecue and a sweet cart laden with traditional confectionery.

Laminated tickets were provided to commemorate the occasion, while there was also a photo booth, which gave the students further opportunity to preserve their memories.

“Everyone enjoyed the evening,” said Dan Ward, assistant head and head of Years 10 and 11 at Smithdon.

“It was great to celebrate our students’ end of schooling at Smithdon High School.”
