King’s Lynn The EBi Foundation golf day in memory of 19 year old Eboni Bunn raises thousands

A charity golf day has celebrated a young woman who left behind a “legacy of light and love.”

Eboni Bunn, from Lynn, died at the age of 19 after her condition AF deteriorated and her family, mum Lisa Birch, dad Darren Bunn and brothers Ryan and Luke, describe her as ‘very much loved.’

To continue Eboni’s legacy of living life to the fullest and helping others, the charity day at Barnham Broom golf course raised funds for a charity that has been created in her memory.

The Ebi Foundation has been tirelessly set up by her brothers Luke and Ryan and formed in her honour.

Its mission statement is to help others live a life like Eboni did, through helping families living with children who suffer with a terminal illness with funding for specialist holidays, days out for the family, specialist equipment and mental support through the tough times.

The charity golf day, which will become an annual event, was organised in order to raise funds for the foundation with the winning team given the Eboni Bunn trophy.

Darren Bunn, Eboni’s dad, who is a serving RAF weapons technician at RAF Marham, said:” The first annual Eboni Bunn Trophy charity golf day took place which involved a team from our local area called Team GB taking on our USA counterparts from RAF Lakenheath.

“Some 20 visiting Americans from Washington DC, who worked with me while I served in the USA, flew over from the USA who all played in the golf week and explored Norfolk.

“The golf day was created to raise money for The Ebi Foundation, the charity that Eboni’s brothers Luke and Ryan have made in their sister’s memory to help other terminally ill children like her to make memories last.

“The charity will help children and their families create memories like helping to pay for holidays, buy equipment to help their wellbeing and also pay for counselling to deal with their ordeals.”

The golf day involved 70 players playing 18 holes of golf competing to win and the result went in Team GB’s favour winning 28 ½ points to Team USA 22 ½ points and raised £8,700.

Mr Bunn said: “ I want to say a huge thanks to all the businesses who donated raffle prizes that made the day a huge success.

“The day was an emotional one for all of Eboni’s family as she would have been very proud of everybody involved and would have thanked everyone personally, which her brothers did on her behalf.

“It is very important for Eboni’s memory to live on as she was such a huge inspiration to us all, who never complained about her illness to anybody and her drive and determination inspired others.

“Whenever she entered a room she always lit it up whether it was by running people over in her wheelchair by accident or knocking over plants.

“She always made people laugh and left an impression on people with her wit and laughter.

Ryan Bunn ran the Milton Keynes marathon on Sunday 02nd July, on Eboni’s birthday, to raise money for the charity which currently stands at £1700.

Mr Bunn added: “A huge effort by all involved and the money raised over these events will have a huge impact on helping children and their families.”
