Great fete in Dersingham full of festive cheer
Dersingham held its Christmas fete on Sunday and the crowds flocked in eager for bargains.
Throughout the day hundreds of visitors looked around the stalls at the village centre which was well supported.
Small businesses sold well on the day from wax melts and hand made jewellery to paintings, home-made crafts and food.
Organiser Alex Dixon said: "Thank you so much everyone that came along. What a great day, it was so busy. It's been brilliant and it's been a great turn out."
Stall holder Claire Bunton, owner of Em's Emporium, in Dersingham, said "It's good to be part of the community, now that people have seen us they say they'll pop in."
Sarah Stafford showed off her Tropics range of ethically produced beauty items, she said: "I haven't been able to do anything for two years but now I have built up 200 clients. I hope to use the room in the Dersingham village centre to hold Tropics events.
"It is really empowering to see men and women and young people using the products and gaining in confidence."
Sophie Walker created her new business as a result of the pandemic and intends to build it up to pass on to her younger sibling.
The business sells cakes, treats and provides buffets.
She said "Poppy's Pantry is named after my sister who at the moment is aged seven. I want to build this up and give it to her so that she has something when she is older."
Marty Griffin said: "People are buying paintings which is a really good sign as they are a luxury item in the tough time of the pandemic where food is a priority on people's lists."
Sarah Shelton is a pyrographer (artist who burns pictures or patterns into wood) and started her business Two Socks Woodcraft recently, likewise the company Norfolk Jar Company is a new small company selling personalised gifts and edible treats and both owners had a good day at the fete.
