The experienced carpenter has had years in the industry, yet even with his longevity in the trade this isn't the first time he's "sliced the end of his finger off".

Mr Jeary said in warning: "Something that is worth noting is that when a machine is spinning, if the workshop lights are flickering at the same speed as the revolution per minute it can make the cutter look stationary.

"Much the same way a spinning car wheel can look stationary appear to move backwards."

A friend replied to the post saying : "Sorry to hear that Luke,I know the feeling years ago I sliced the end of my finger on an electric planer it was on the fleshy part at the tip. It is a haphazard if the job."

Despite the grisly wound, Mr Jeary says he is "healing like a salamander".
