A musician made the sweet sound of fundraising when he performed at sites around Swaffham to back the ongoing effort to improve support for people living with dementia in the town.

Ian Clews played at a number of pubs around the town, as well as at the Buttercross and on the steps of the Assembly Rooms to mark Dementia Awareness Week last month.

His efforts raised a total of £581.35, which he presented at the monthly Alzheimer’s Society café held at the Assembly Rooms.

Accepting the cheque, Clare Stiles, Dementia Friendly communities co-ordinator, and Lyndsey Lake, café co-ordinator, said the money was particularly welcome to help raise awareness of dementia as well as supporting patients.

Ian has also thanked the volunteers who collected money and the landlords who allowed him to play outside their premises.
