The worst nightmares of shoppers came to life as hundreds of ghouls flocked to the Vancouver Quarter for a Halloween Spooktacular.
Youngsters of all ages reported to Lynn’s Halloween Headquarters on Baxter’s Plain to collect their trail map, before making their way round the town centre searching for code words.
Those who collected all the words to the special Halloween poem were rewarded with a goodie bag from the Vancouver Quarter and the borough council.
Abbie Panks, centre manager, said: “We saw a 10 per cent increase in footfall compared to last year’s event and almost 1,000 Halloween trail maps were given out, 500 of these were distributed within the first half-an-hour which was unprecedented.”
She said: “We were delighted by the positive feedback we received from parents and hope their children enjoyed collecting the codewords on the trail and being greeted by street entertainers before receiving their goodie bags.
“Thanks must be given to borough council for teaming up with us once again for this event.
“Also thanks to The Puppeteers for performing on the balcony at Beales, the support staff who helped pack the goody bags and run the event and to all the retailers who housed the trail’s codewords.”
