Torrential rain forced organisers of Heacham Infant School’s summer fete into a change of plan ahead of the event on Saturday.

“We made contingency plans having looked at the weather,” said headteacher Louise Jackson.

The event, organised by the school’s parent teacher association, was moved into the school building.

Welly wanging was one of the few planned attractions that was cancelled, but snail races still went ahead.

Mrs Jackson said: “It’s been really wonderful. The whole village supported us. We still managed to have fun and the atmosphere is happy.”
