Heacham Junior School has announced plans to become an academy, under the sponsorship of the West Norfolk Academies Trust.

The school will join the primaries at Snettisham, West Lynn and Clenchwarton that have already become academies with the trust.

The Walpole Cross Keys Primary and Marshland High School in West Walton are also in the process of joining the organisation, which already sponsors Springwood High School in Lynn and St Clement’s High in Terrington St Clement.

Trust chairman Roger Livesey said: “We are delighted that another good local school will be joining the trust.”

In a letter to parents, school leaders said the transitition could be made as early as Easter if new leadership structures and legal procedures are completed by then.

The document said the school had been approached by the trust about the potential switch. Consultation sessions will also be held with parents to discuss the move.
