Students from Smithdon High School in Hunstanton take part in annual Remembrance Day service
Students represented their school when they took part in this year’s Remembrance Service at Hunstanton Cenotaph on on Sunday.
Smithdon High School’s Head Students Ethan Guymer and Hope Marriott were accompanied by deputy headteacher Sarah Robinson at the ceremony, which has become a regular fixture in the school calendar.
“They walked with the parade through the town, attended the service at the Cenotaph, and laid a wreath on behalf of Smithdon High School for all those former students who had died in the wars,” said Amanda Gibbins, head teacher at the school, which is part of the West Norfolk Academies Trust.
“It is a huge reflection of British Values and the Smithdon Seven Statements – remembering all those who have fought and died for our country, supported the armed services in terrorist and other incidents, all placing others’ lives and security ahead of their own.”
The school is also holding its own remembrance assembly today (Monday, November 11), where staff and students joined the rest of the country in observing a minute silence at 11am.
The annual West Norfolk Academy Trust concert is also taking place today with Smithdon and Springwood High School students.
