The British Heart Foundation (BHF) shop in St Dominic’s Square, Lynn, has celebrated its 25th birthday.

Shop staff and volunteers marked the occasion with a birthday party and certificates were awarded to people who have been volunteering at the shop for over one year.

The occasion was extra special for the shop manager Ginny Symonds who has been managing the store since it opened back in March 1991.

Ginny, 59, from Lynn, said “It’s amazing to be celebrating 25 years at the shop and I’m really proud of all the staff and volunteers who work here. When I applied for the job years ago, I had sadly just lost a friend to a heart attack so it seemed a sign to go for it.

“From day one, things seemed to click and now I know I couldn’t work anywhere else – we are honestly like a family and have been through so much together.

“Over the years lots has changed in Lynn and in the shop itself, we have welcomed lots of new customers but also have a few shoppers who have been coming in since the opening!

“I want to say a huge thank you to the local community for supporting us over the years, we are really grateful.”

BHF area manager, Sonya Pringle, said: “We’ve enjoyed a fantastic 25 years of business in the King’s Lynn shop.

“We are looking forward to welcoming even more customers in the shop and making the next 25 years just as successful!

“We’re always in need of support, so if you’re having a clear out this spring please keep us in mind as we are always on the look-out for items to fill our rails.

“We’d also love to hear from you if you are interested in joining the team as a volunteer for a few hours a week.”
