Help Lynn branch of Samaritans by taking part in Samarathon
The Lynn branch of Samaritans is asking supporters to fundraise for it by taking part in "Samarathon" this month.
People are being invited to run, jog, walk, cycle, swim or just move a marathon distance in their own time and at their own pace during July.
For those that would like to do it in one go, a group of volunteers led by trustee Richard James and and branch director Rachel Goldsmith will be walking the 26.2 miles on Sunday, July 11.
They will walk from Barton Farm, Little Dunham, up the Peddars Way to Ringstead, then turn left down the Ringstead Downs to Hunstanton Bus Station.
Rachel said: "This is a challenge you can do on your own, with members of your household, or join with friends, family and work mates supporting each other’s progress wherever you are.
"Now more than ever, we know getting active works wonders for your mental wellbeing.
"Samarathon is a great goal to motivate people to go at that their own pace. Whatever your age or ability, it’s a challenge to do in your time, at your pace, wherever you live or work.
"This fitness-fundraising initiative is focused on feeling good. We hope supporters will encourage their friends and family of all ages to take part as it’s an achievable challenge they can share and enjoy.”
All are welcome to join for all or some of this walk. There will be start times for a short, medium, and long version of the walk so people can feel free to join in for any part of it. Email KLSAMSPR@gmail.com for further details.
Anyone wanting to raise some money for the branch can set up their own page at https://samarathon.samaritans.org/. Specifying "King's Lynn Samaritans" will ensure that money raised will go to the Queen Street branch.
