Parents of Year 6 pupils at Westmere Primary School, Sutton Bridge, organised a leavers’ event for the youngsters to ‘make special memories.’

With music and food arranged, it was held at the Curlew Centre from the afternoon into the evening.

Kirsty Thorn, who organised the fun night with another parent Eloise Burton-Rayner, said: “We thought we would do something special for the kids and do something nice for them.

“The kids really enjoyed it and it will make special memories for them.”

The night included a disco provided by DJ Andy Downham, free balloons to decorate the hall from V M Gedney newsagents and parent Charlotte Mason paid for the use of the venue.

Some 30 to 40 children and parents attended the leaver’s party and Mrs Thorn said: “Thank you to all the parents for all their donations.

“Filipa and myself paid for the photo booth and everyone dressed up how they wanted to on the night.”
