Here’s what we know so far following death of Lesley Page who was found with gunshot wounds at Emneth property in Lady’s Drove
A man was arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Emneth this week – this is what we know so far.
On Tuesday, police said they were investigating the “unexplained” death of a woman after being called to Lady’s Drove shortly before 7.30am on Monday following a report that the body of a woman in her 60s had been found at a property there.
A man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remained on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, detectives said they had been given additional time to question the man on suspicion of murder as police provisionally named 65-year-old Lesley Page as the woman found dead with gunshot wounds.
Officers had applied for a warrant of further detention at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and were granted an additional 36 hours to question the man.
Meanwhile, the provisional results of a Home Office post-mortem examination showed that the cause of Mrs Page’s death was gunshot wounds to the torso.
Later on Wednesday, police said the arrested man had been released under investigation while enquiries continued.
Senior investigating officer Alix Wright said: “We are still working to establish the circumstances that led to Mrs Page’s death.
“We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, however, we are keeping an open mind and the investigation continues to establish the full facts.”
Reports in national media suggest that Mrs Page was found dead in Banyer Hall – a £1million 16th century Grade II listed manor house which once featured on BBC’s Escape to the Country.
Mrs Page and her husband are understood to have moved to the property from Essex in 2017, with Mrs Page recently having started a job nearer her home after leaving a role at a bank branch in London.
