Pupils at Downham Market’s Nelson Academy showcase artwork at Norfolk Open Studios event
Pupils from a Downham school have showcased their artwork as part of the annual Norfolk Open Studios event.
Nelson Academy invited the public to view its hard work last Friday and Saturday.
Work by all the students, from nursery to Year 6, was based on the theme of Light and Dark.
The theme was chosen by the school’s arts ambassadors and challenged pupils to come up with a wide range of artworks in both two and 3D.
An Arty Family Saturday Session was also held during the open event allowing families to share time together to create art and craft work and refreshments were also available.
Gill Sek, the school’s art lead, said the school has taken part in the open studios for a number of years.
“We had the best one yet, loads of families came and some new families came this time,” said Mrs Sek, adding the activity day on the Saturday was very well supported by families.
Speaking about the open studios, Mrs Sek said: “It’s the highlight of our year now because the children just get so much from seeing their work celebrated.”
