The Bank House Hotel in King's Lynn is named in The Good Pub Guide in Top 10 UK Town Pubs 2021
Lynn's Bank House Hotel is celebrating after being named in a publication regarded as a comprehensive guide to the best hostelries in the land.
The hotel on King’s Staithe Square has been named by The Good Pub Guide in their Top 10 UK Town Pubs for 2021. The 2021 guide, which has just been published, is regarded as the bible for pubs and publicans, and features the very best establishments in the sector across the country.
The Good Pub Guide lists around 40,000 pubs on its website and the printed guide lists some 5,000. It is known as the "gold standard" guide when it comes to the pubs of the UK.
Michael Baldwin, operator of the Bank House, said: "I am incredibly proud of the team at Bank House. Their hard work and dedication to our customers has shone through. In this most challenging of years, I have been continuously inspired by their dedication to not only Bank House, but to our wider community.
“Whilst we accept this honour, we are also mindful of the pubs up and down the country who continue to suffer so terribly, and we ask that everybody supports their local as best they can. Pubs have never been as important as they have this year in supporting communities across the world, and they now need you more than ever."
Bank House is a Grade II* listed Georgian riverside townhouse, originally a bank, but now a 12-bedroomed hotel, with the bar in the original counting house, a number of different dining areas and a west facing riverside terrace. It is believed that the cellars were used for smuggling over many centuries.
In the last ten years, Bank House has become established as a popular place to eat, drink and stay in Lynn. It is frequented by a loyal following of locals, visiting business people and diners from all over East Anglia, as well as attracting tourists.
In the face of challenges posed this year, the Bank House has adapted with innovative takeaway and delivery services, whilst continuing to support the local community.
