West Norfolk 46

Fenland Warriors 5

On a bright and windy Sunday morning at Gatehouse Lane, some enjoyable rugby was served up to the supporters in a great team performance.

Fenland Warriors bought a squad large in numbers and physical presence, and looked determined.

West’s Jack Trundley broke tackles to sprint away to score an early try. Karter Howlett stroked over the conversion.

West’s forwards were dominating the rucks and mauls forcing errors from their opponents and from a turn over the ball found its way to speedster George Lemon on the halfway line who raced clear to score under the posts.

Howlett converted.

Fenland had the wind but were not using it to their advantage with West applying constant pressure.

From further forwards pressure, space was created for the backs with Howlett breaking the defence to score, while well worked phases of play allowed Lemon to dart through and touch down. Tom Hitchcock picked up, broke clear and scored with the last play of the half (score: 29-5).

Second half tries came from Trundley, fullback Tom Collie in the corner and Hitchcock (Trundley converted).
