Hopes to set up new parkrun in Hunstanton

Officials are seeking volunteers to help bring a new parkrun event to West Norfolk.

There are currently three weekly parkruns in our area – in Lynn, Holkham and Swaffham – and now there are hopes to add Hunstanton to that list.

An open evening will be held on Thursday, May 23 at Hunstanton Sailing Club at 7pm for those interested in helping to set up the parkrun in the town.

People are invited to join the informal evening to find out more about parkrun and its community benefits.

In a post on Facebook, Bridget Plowright, one of the event’s organisers, said: “There has been some interest recently about setting up a parkrun at Hunstanton.

“For this to be successful, we need a volunteer to become the event director and volunteers to become run directors.

“If you are interested and would like to find out more about parkrun and what’s involved, we are holding an open evening by kind permission of the Sailing Club.”

The weekly parkruns are free, timed 5km events. To find out more about a parkrun near you, visit www.parkrun.org.uk.
