Horse dies after collision with car in Barroway Drove




A horse died this morning (Friday, August 24) after it collided with a car in Barroway Drove.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the incident at about 4.15am.

A police spokeswoman said it is believed the horse escaped from a field, after which it collided with a Nissan Terrano.

She said: "The horse was killed probably instantly."

The road was blocked until about 7am while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Fire officers also attended the scene and assisted with cleaning up the road.

The spokeswoman said the owner later came to collect the horse.
