Congham Hall hotel celebrates with launch of cabins
Congham Hall Hotel at Grimston will launch five romantic Orchard Cabins next year to mark the West Norfolk hotel’s 10th anniversary under the management of award-winning hotelier Nicholas Dickinson and his team.
The new rooms, each with the luxurious touch of a freestanding outdoor bathtub, are beautifully set in the Georgian manor’s historic apple orchard.
These peaceful cabins are the latest addition to the hotel, following the recent restyling of its 2 AA Rosette restaurant as The Samphire Kitchen and enhancement of areas of its Secret Garden Spa, part of the £1 million development.
Nicholas has a long pedigree working at and creating leading UK hotels, beginning his career at properties including Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons and Chewton Glen.
He went on to launch Luxury Family Hotels with Nigel Chapman, a portfolio that included Fowey Hall and Woolley Grange. Congham Hall is his only independent project.
He said: "Our new Orchard Cabins are the perfect place for our guests to enjoy some star bathing.
"The contemporary designs beautifully complement the original Georgian manor and provide a magnificent addition as we launch our celebrations of 10 years as Congham Hall's custodians."
The Orchard Cabins offer a relaxing retreat where guests can immerse themselves in nature in the utmost comfort, a soul-calming experience to refresh body and mind.
Entering through a private front door, guests step into a spacious bedroom with sitting area and en-suite bathroom.
Through a wall of windows at the gable end, guests look out at a terrace with a freestanding bathtub. This indulgent outdoor bath offers the ultimate spot from which to enjoy views of the orchard by day or gaze at the stars by night.
All five cabins will be named after apples such as Cox and Laxton, which grow in the hotel’s orchard, and favourite varieties Braeburn, Evelina and Horsford.
The cabins’ elegant contemporary décor has been created by FM Interiors, with a colour scheme that features aubergine, lilac and rose accents.
BC Designs has supplied the duo of baths for each room: outside, a glamorous, shiny silver boat bath cast in tin, and, inside, another freestanding tub hand-painted to complement each room’s individual colour scheme.
Rest and relaxation are assured with handcrafted organic mattresses by Naturalmat and Hygge swivel chairs, inspired by Danish craftsmanship, from David Fox Design.
The cabins are dressed in graceful fabrics and wall coverings by Romo, and the artisan textile designer Claire Gaudion was specially commissioned to produce rugs for each room that draw on Norfolk scenes such as lavender fields, bluebell woods, beaches, and, of course, Congham Hall and its orchard.
Prices for the Orchard Cabins start at £399 per room per night, including dinner and breakfast.
Congham Hall also recently redesigned its 2 AA Rosette restaurant as The Samphire Kitchen, with a long leather banquette at its heart, around which are set intimate individual tables.
The interior design draws inspiration from the beautiful parkland seen from its terrace and through the full-length windows, with shades of terracotta, green, blue and brown reflected in the uncovered wooden tables, parquet floor, velvet chairs, wallpaper and fabrics by Colefax and Fowler, and paint by Little Greene.
In the spa, additions include a fifth therapy room and a remodelled outdoor deck with hot tub.
