Downham Market Town Council reject proposals for 240 homes near Bridle Lane
Plans for 240 dwellings have been rejected by Downham Market Town Council.
The homes were planned to be put North East of Bridle Lane, near the JET garage.
All 16 members of the council turned down the proposal due to the effects it would have on wildlife in the area as well as not having enough services to support the dwellings. However, borough councillors will have the final say on the application.
Cllr Alisha Buxton said: “The three surgeries we have can’t cope already.”
Councillors also agreed that it would negatively effect Lynn Road which goes through Downham Market and Wimbotsham.
The road has been described as accident prone already without the added traffic from the proposed 240 houses.
Mayor Charlie Pyatt added that emergency services would also struggle. The town council's vote will be taken into consideration when the West Norfolk Council makes its final decision.
