Housing scheme for Lynn car sales site

Plans to demolish a car showroom in London Road, Lynn, and replace it with houses have gone to West Norfolk council planners.

The applicant, Favorit Motor Company, is asking permission to build a total of 15 residential and two commercial units on the site which is on the junction with Hospital Walk.

The scheme is for a mix of two and three-storey town houses and apartments to be constructed on the showroom and workshop site and the yard at the back, also demolishing the adjoining office previously used as a house.

Plans show two two-bedroom town houses, two four-bedroom town houses, five one-bedroom apartments and six two-bedroom apartments plus two single storey commercial units, all with access from Hospital Walk.

Two of the town houses will have private gardens and there will also be communal spaces, a bike store and some garden incorporated into the scheme.

The application states that parking space has not been included because of the accessibility of the town centre, public transport and public parking areas.

It also describes the development as “designed to maintain the traditional style of the street scene but adding a contemporary twist.”
