Hundreds enjoy spooky fun at annual Halloween celebrations in Downham Market
Skeletons, pirates and zombies were among the spooky characters in Downham on Friday, as the town hosted its annual Halloween celebrations.
More than 200 youngsters visited the Halloween Fun Day, organised by Downham Market Town Council, which was held on the town square and at the town hall from 11am to 3pm.
Families enjoyed a number of activities throughout the day, including table top games, hook-a-duck and pumpkin bowling – and the poor weather did not deter visitors.
A spokesman for Downham Market Town Council said: “We had over 200 children turn up and despite the rain, many of them stayed for the whole time, which was really brilliant.
“We asked people their opinion and universally people said they were really pleased that we had put it on and said they had enjoyed themselves.”
Of all the day’s attractions, the free funfair ride was one of the most popular.
“Children were on the ride the whole day,” the spokesman added.
“It was kids just grinning the whole time.”
Two children were crowned the winners of the fancy dress competition and will switch on the town’s Christmas lights on Sunday, November 24.
