Hundreds raised at Heacham school fete
Around twenty stalls, snail racing and a head shave for a cancer charity were just some of the attractions at Heacham's Infant and Nursery School summer fete on Saturday.
Produce grown by members of the school's Gardening Club, combined with donations from Heacham allotment holders, produced a stall groaning with fruit and vegetables.
There was another heavily laden stall full of cakes baked by the PTA and parents whilst face-painting was so popular it had a long queue, plus a tombola, raffle and book stalls.
Heacham's fire crew were also on hand with an appliance but there was - sensibly - not watery games because of this exceptionally dry summer.
The event was organised by the Parent Teacher Association who hoped to raise around £800 to help buy new reading books for the school.
Parents contributed in many different ways to help the PTA make the day a success and the stream of visitors that crowded into the school grounds during the afternoon looked like numbers could be close to a record for the event.
