Hundreds raised for Walpole Cross Keys school and pre-school

Hundreds of pounds were raised for a village school and pre-school during a fun day and car boot sale on Saturday.

The event was organised by officials from the Ladybirds pre-school in Walpole Cross Keys to help them and the village primary school's PTA.

Ladybirds secretary Emma Bunkall said a total of around £950 was raised, which will be shared between the two groups.

She said: "It was a really lovely day and we had really good support from our parents.

"Local businesses donated lots of good raffle prizes and we're really grateful to them."

The Ladybirds' share of the money will go towards their ongoing project to upgrade their garden with facilities such as a new playhouse.

The event came towards the end of a busy year for the pre-school, which is a registered charity and many of whose members are moving to primary school this September.
