Hundreds rush through sea of bubbles at King's Lynn charity fun run
The Walks in Lynn was awash with colourful bubbles today as the first ever Bubble Rush event was held in the town in aid of East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).
The event saw around 1,000 people walk, jog and run through blue, yellow, green and pink bubbles, which has raised around £30,000 to help fund the charity's new hospice at Quidenham.
Among those taking part in the family 5k fun run were Rachel Hughes and eight-year-old Isabelle Hughes from Dersingham, along with Sally Panks, Charlie Panks and eight-year-old Hannah Panks from Pott Row.
"We really enjoyed it, it was really good fun, it's such a good cause as well," they said.
"It was nice to be given the option to raise sponsorship if you want to as well."
Also enjoying the bubbly fun were Louise Walker, Ali Garner, Georgia Kellie and Will Kellie from Downham.
"It's better than running without bubbles," they said.
The family said they usually take part in parkrun, the 5k free run which is held in The Walks every Saturday, so the Bubble Rush was something a bit different.
"We would definitely do some more like this, and bring some of our younger family members."
Event fundraiser for EACH Emma Benstead said £28,000 had already been raised through ticket sales for the day, and once sponsorships had been collected, they hope to have a total of around £30,000.
"This is the first time that EACH has done this in King's Lynn and we are hoping to bring it back next year," she added.
"Everyone seems to be really enjoying it, there's lots of families going round together and quite a few of our service users who benefited from EACH's care and support.
"It's good to see they are here as well which is lovely. There are people of all ages, and people with pushchairs and wheelchairs.
"Anyone who wants to take part can take part."
The charity, in partnership with West Norfolk Council, is also set to host a new Colour Dash fundraising event in Hunstanton at the Heritage Gardens on Sunday, August 5.
Entries are open for the two-mile event. To find out more, visit www.each.org.uk.
