It was just like stepping back in time more than 50 years on Sunday when thousands of Mods and Rockers took part in a mass ride to Hunstanton.
The scooterists and motorbikers filled the town and there was a display of the machines that nearly overwhelmed The Green.
Suitable musical entertainment was provided by DJ Pete Maisey playing Northern Soul, SKA and Rock n Roll, plus the live band Scooted and Boooted.
Riders from all over the Eastern region joined the event that started in Wisbech including Richard Garner from Peterborough who said: “This is a really enjoyable event and we get a great welcome in Hunstanton.”
In aid of Cambridgeshire branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, Ruth and Paul Whitehurst began organising the event over a decade ago and Ruth said: “I have not finished the final count, from the buckets we raised £642 and so far the profits from the tee shirts raised £65.”
The influx of visitors also gave food and drink outlets in the town a welcome end-of-season boost on Sunday and chip shops had long queues of customers waiting to eat their lunches in the warm September sunshine.
