The building of an extension to accommodate the children attending the Valentine Road Infant School began at Redgate School Hunstanton four weeks ago.

The new extension will be open on Monday, November 2. Students at Redgate are getting very excited about the changes at the school including the introduction of the new uniform that they will be wearing from September this year. They have been watching the development with interest and have recently designed signs for the compound reminding people to wear safety gear. David Barmby, project manager for Gill Building, said: “We’re currently just over floor level and it has been a smooth build so far. We will start concreting the floor slab tomorrow and bricklaying will begin on Thursday. The steel for the retaining wall is also complete.”

School Administrator Carolyn Parris said: “The builders are making us a time capsule, about a metre long and 150mm in diameter, that will be buried near the new build and the children can begin bringing in small objects that are particularly associated with 2015 to put in it after the May half term.”
