Hunstanton school teams up with Fenland-based company to install state-of-the-art solar panels
A Hunstanton school has taken a step to a more sustainable future for its students and the wider community following the installation of a new state-of-the-art solar panel system.
The new system at Glebe House has been provided free of charge through a unique partnership with Fenland-based company Solar Panel Funding.
The installation marks a major step forward in the school’s commitment to sustainability and environmental education.
On the collaboration, Damien Pearl, director of Solar Panel Funding, said: “As one of the directors, I’m delighted to confirm that we recently completed a free solar panel installation at Glebe School in Hunstanton.
"Although Glebe School didn’t match our usual funding criteria, we adapted our model specifically for this project, as we recognised it could have a significant and positive impact on many children in the community.”
The newly installed solar energy system is already making a measurable difference - significantly reducing the school’s energy bills and carbon footprint.
These savings can now be reinvested directly into educational resources and facilities, benefitting both current and future students.
Solar Panel Funding operates an innovative, self-funded grant scheme that delivers fully funded solar solutions to homeowners and institutions across the UK, without relying on government subsidies.
Glebe House head teacher Andrew Stewart said: “There’s always excitement when something new happens at school.
"This was particularly true when Solar Panel Funding began—and completed, in record time—the installation of solar panels on our Pre-Prep building.
"Not only does this project support our sustainability goals, but it directly powers classrooms and facilities that serve the wider community, including the Men’s Shed, the Nursery, and our swimming pool.”
The educational impact has been equally powerful.
Students are now engaging with the system in their science and geography lessons - studying real-time energy consumption data and learning about renewable energy production firsthand.
The project supports the school’s broader mission of securing Green Flag status and preparing pupils to be informed, environmentally responsible citizens.
“We are often approached by companies that profess a commitment to education and community,” Mr Stewart added.
"But it has been fantastic to work with Solar Panel Funding and discover a company that truly delivers.”
This project marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between Glebe House School and Solar Panel Funding—one built on shared values of sustainability, innovation, and community impact.
