Hunstanton to hold a community day

Hunstanton Town Council will be holding a community day on Wednesday, September 1, between 2pm and 7pm in the newly-refurbished town hall.

The venue has been closed since the beginning of the Covid pandemic and this time has been used to undertake major repairs.

With the works now nearing completion, the mayor of Hunstanton, Adrian Winnington, will be officially reopening the hall at 4 pm.

Mr Winnington said: “The Covid pandemic has affected everyone in some way.

"Self-isolation and social distancing have meant that many of our residents are now needing help, seeking friendship or may simply want to take up new hobbies.

“Hunstanton Town Council has been quick to recognise the collective strength of working together.

"The idea of holding a community day is to provide an opportunity for key organisations, groups, individuals and charities in Hunstanton and surrounding areas to offer their assistance, advice and support to our residents and to showcase what is available in our community.”

More than 35 representatives will be in attendance during the afternoon including members from Lily, Community Action Norfolk, SJP Solicitors, U3A, the emergency services, the Chances Project (NCC), HTC Community Fridge, HTC Friendship Group, Community Choir, Benjamin Foundation and others.

Refreshments will be available with proceeds to the Mayor’s Charity (which this year are local youth groups).
