Hunstanton’s impressive blooms will see the seaside town awarded a prestigious Gold Award this weekend after the town was named coastal category winner in Europe’s biggest community gardening campaign, Britain in Bloom.
Borough councillor Elizabeth Watson, Chairman of the Hunstanton in Bloom committee, will present the Royal Horticultural Society Britain in Bloom trophy to town mayor Carol Bower during a special celebration event in the Spinney this Saturday, December 6.
Mrs Watson said: “We are privileged to have such an amazing landscape, not least our iconic striped cliffs which were recently recognised as one of the UK’s top geological sites by the Geological Society of London. I am immensely proud of what we’ve achieved and want to pass on my personal thanks to everyone who gets involved.”
Mrs Bower said: “I am so proud of the Hunstanton in Bloom team who have worked tirelessly and enthusiastically over the last few years to achieve this accolade.
“They have inspired groups of all ages to be involved and made this a real community effort.
“Not only has it brought people together, but it has made Hunstanton even more attractive and welcoming to our visitors. Thank you all on behalf of the town.”
