Husband and wife who carried out numerous assaults at Snettisham Caravan Park ‘embarrassed’ by their actions

A husband and wife who assaulted a police officer and members of the public at a caravan park said they are now “embarrassed” by their actions.

Sarah and Aaron Webb were sentenced at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday following a trial earlier this year.

They had previously denied the number of offences, which took place at Snettisham Caravan Park on June 11 last year.

Sarah Webb, 40, assaulted a police officer and two members of the public. Aaron Webb, 36, assaulted one member of the public.

Prosecutor Stephen Munton explained to magistrates that the police were called to the altercation at the caravan park as nearby children were upset by the incident.

Sarah Webb was seen shouting “b*****d” at another man. A woman approached her and Sarah Webb punched and pushed her.

A man also came over to the scene and Sarah Webb pushed him while Aaron Webb struck him in the head.

The police arrived at the scene and arrested the husband and wife.

The pair, who live on Samuel Street Walk in Bury St Edmunds, were shouting and swearing in the police van and Sarah Webb kicked a police officer in the knee.

At the sentencing hearing, they appeared unrepresented but Aaron Webb spoke on their behalf.

He said: “We really do apologise. It is embarrassing and I feel sorry for the kids.”

Sarah Webb was handed a 12-month community order which entails completing 10 rehabilitation activity days and a 120-day alcohol abstainance monitoring requirement.

She will pay £50 compensation to the police officer and £75 to each member of the public she assaulted.

Magistrates also ordered her to pay court costs of £300 and a victim surcharge of £114.

Aaron Webb was given a 24-month community order, which involves completing a thinking skills programme.

He will carry out a 30-day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement and pay £75 to the victim he assaulted.

He will also pay the same court costs and victim surcharge as his wife.
