‘Integral’ Dr Sally Hall retires after 20 years at Great Massingham and Docking Surgeries
An “integral” GP was given a fitting send-off as she retires after two decades at her practice.
Patients and staff joined together to wish a fond farewell to Dr Sally Hall, who first started out at Great Massingham and Docking Surgeries in 2004.
She has since gained a reputation as ‘the skin doctor’, helping countless people to treat rashes and warts - sometimes by performing minor surgery.
Over the years, the partner GP has also started up a walking group to encourage exercise, as well as acting as a clinical director for the surgeries’ primary care network.
Last Thursday, Sally was joined by many of those she has worked with to celebrate her time in the villages - and they showered her with gifts, flowers and cards.
“It was a lovely day - I was totally overwhelmed by people’s kindness and generosity,” she said.
“I think I am very lucky. I have had lovely patients and worked with incredible people.
“My colleagues have been wonderful. I have been blessed.”
Ruth Harris, the practice, said Sally has been an “integral part” of the team.
“Without a doubt,” she said when asked if she will be missed.
“She is a well loved doctor, and she genuinely goes above and beyond.
“Initially patients are very sad, and then they get to see another doctor and life goes on, so to speak.
“It certainly makes a difference in the practice.”
Now that she has retired, Sally is planning to take some time before deciding what to do next.
She may yet partake in some local work, and still enjoys bumping into her patients when out and about in the area.
