A Sedgeford woman was caught drink-driving just two hours into 2022.

Mollie Rix, 26, was pulled over by police in Highfield Road, Fakenham, because a headlight on her vehicle wasn’t working.

The incident happened at around 2am on January 1.

Prosecutor Abubakar Muhammad told Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday: “Before giving a breath sample, the defendant said ‘I’m going to be over the limit’.”

Rix did fail the roadside test and was arrested, later giving a reading of 48 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Rix, of Fring Road, had no convictions before pleading guilty to drink-driving.

She said in mitigation: “I know I’ve been an idiot. I can’t be any angrier with myself than I have been.”

Rix was given a 12 month driving ban, which can be reduced through the successful completion of a drink-driver rehabilitation course.

Rix was also fined £250 and ordered to pay £85 costs plus a £34 victim surcharge.
