West Norfolk Council issues general election guidance to voters and prospective candidates
West Norfolk Council has issued advice to residents and prospective candidates ahead of July’s general election.
Candidates and election agents from across North West and South West Norfolk are being invited to one of two online briefing sessions ahead of the vote on July 4.
The sessions will take place on Microsoft Teams on Friday (May 31) at 3.30pm and next Tuesday (June 4) at 6pm. Sessions are expected to last no longer than one hour.
Candidates and agents will be introduced to the borough council’s acting returning officer Lorraine Gore, as well as elections manager Andrew Barrett.
Ms Gore said: "These sessions will cover the timetable for the elections, the nomination process and where to find more information on the Electoral Commission website.
“We'll also talk about polling stations and postal votes, voter ID, and will explain the verification and count arrangements.
“It should prove very useful for people thinking of putting themselves forward for the role of Member of Parliament for North West or South West Norfolk."
Candidates and election agents can email elections@west-norfolk.gov.uk to book a place and let the council know which of the two sessions they would like to attend.
Meanwhile, anyone wishing to vote in the election must be registered by June 18 - and the deadline for receiving new postal vote applications is 5pm on June 19.
