Deepdale Camping and Rooms named best small campsite in the country with AA award

A small campsite has received a national award after its annual inspection.

Deepdale Camping & Rooms, in Burnham Deepdale, has been crowned small campsite of the year by the AA after an inspection saw it claim a high rating.

Each year, the organisation visits hundreds of campsites for the AA guidebooks, inspecting the facilities against its grading system.

After Deepdale’s inspection, it was awarded a four Pennant Award (a five Pennant score being the highest) then to the team's surprise, the national award was delivered to the campsite, naming it the best in the country.

Chris Haycock, managing director of Deepdale Camping & Rooms, said: “As you can imagine, opening the post is the usual collection of bills, statements and junk mail.

“Occasionally we receive a parcel from or for a customer, but opening the post the other day was a much more enjoyable experience when the AA award slid out of its padded envelope.

“We knew that the inspector who visited us this year liked our facilities, but we had no advance warning of this national award.”

He added: “This award is a huge compliment to our wonderful team and the facilities we have at Deepdale. We pride ourselves on our customer service and clean, high-quality facilities, which the customers talk about in their reviews.

“To have been selected as the best small campsite in the UK for 2023 is absolutely fantastic, and the team are really proud of this accolade.”

The campsite has now dug out its warmer gear for the winter as the team continues with landscape management and maintenance around the site and welcomes winter wildlife watchers, cyclists, walkers and watersports enthusiasts.
