One of the most inspiring exhibitions to run at the King’s Lynn Arts Centre starts in the flyer on Saturday, July 11.
Called Transform it is an innovative craft project encouraging women who have suffered domestic abuse to explore their creativity.
Not only are they transforming materials into jewellery and artworks but they are transforming their lives.
Lyndall Phelps, the project manager, said she had found it an amazing experience.
“They were very fragile,” she said. “They had been through horrendous circumstances, a lot of it more mental than physical.”
But the work had been transformative, she said: “A lot of them had never done anything like this. They did not have the confidence. Now they are completely obsessed and making all sorts of things.
“For me, each day became a joy to be with them, just to be in their presence. They had been through hell but this has given them so much confidence.”
