A fire investigation is “ongoing” following a fire at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday evening.

Firefighters were called to Gayton Road at about 7.15pm to reports of a fire in the building, which happened in the linen room and was contained.

Crews from Lynn, Sandringham, Heacham, Fakenham and an aerial ladder platform from Lynn attended the scene.

It is not thought that anyone was harmed.

Main jets and hose reels were used to extinguish the blaze, a thermal image camera was used to check for hotspots and a fan to ventilate the premises.

A hospital spokesman said: “The cause of the fire is not yet known. Staff were evacuated safely and patient safety was not compromised.

“There will now be a full investigation.”
