Norfolk Police recruitment includes LGBT+ and diversity
Norfolk Police are recruiting and they are particularly keen to hear from applicants with diverse backgrounds.
To this end, they and their Suffolk counterparts have three online workshops starting from next week.
For example, next Wednesday, January 19 at 6pm Norfolk and Suffolk Constabulary are focused on attracting people who identify as LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and 'plus,' which represents other sexual identities).
The advertisement reads: “Norfolk and Suffolk Constabulary are focused on attracting, recruiting and retaining talented people. We value equality, diversity and inclusivity and welcome applications from across our communities.
“To be able to represent and engage with the communities we serve, it’s vital that our police service is inclusive and diverse. That’s why it’s really important that people from all backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, faiths, abilities, gender and sexual orientation, apply to join the police.
“We are dedicated to building strong relationships with under-represented groups and inspiring you to join our police family. Therefore if you are considering joining us as a Police Officer and identify as LGBT+ we welcome you to join us at our careers event.
“Our Positive Action Recruitment team will be providing a breakdown on the recruitment process, our entry requirements and why we are committed to furthering diversity and inclusion in our workforce .”
Other workshops are – Thursday, January 20, 6-7.15pm: Yes Police, Women in Policing Positive Action recruitment workshop; and Wednesday, February 2, 6-7.15pm: a workshop for anyone interested in the DHEP (Degree Holder Entry Programme) & DiPP (Degree in Professional Policing) routes.
These events are limited to 250 attendees. Once signed up, a link will be sent out to all attendees in the week leading up to each event.
