A presentation was made to Jo Rust on Monday, as she stepped down from her position as secretary of the Lynn and District Trades Council.

Mrs Rust, who founded the organisation in 2009, has left the role in order to concentrate on her Labour candidacy for the North West Norfolk parliamentary seat at next year’s general election.

People’s rights campaigner Linda Cox and trade unionist Sam Gipson will succeed her.

And Mrs Rust said: “I know that in Sam Gipson and Linda Cox, the Trades Council will go from strength to strength. I look forward to watching this take place.”

Group treasurer Ian Barton said: “It’s thanks to Jo’s efforts that she’s not only put the Trades Council on the map, but has really made a positive difference in King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.”
