Sponsorship money from a vintage tractor road run has come flooding in and the total raised now looks set to top £1,800.

The event organised by Billy Pope, of Southery, in conjunction with Peter Bates, of Hilgay, was held last month in support of Cancer Research UK.

Mr Pope has been running the event for four years in support of various charities and for the past two years, Mr Bates, along with a number of helpers, has been hosting a Ploughman’s lunch afterwards in Hilgay.

The run saw 17 tractors travelling to and from Hilgay, carrying out bucket collections at businesses on the way.

They stopped off at Downham Country Garden Store, Tesco and Morrisons in Downham, and The Chequers in Wimbotsham.

Mr Pope said: “I’d like to thank the drivers and everybody who helps and supports us to make it possible.”
